Air Canada flies to Portugal in summer 2025

The new connection stems from the collaborative work between Turismo de Portugal, ANA Aeroportos, Turismo do Porto e Norte de Portugal, and Air Canada. It is the airline's first flight to Porto and the third route to Portugal. The consolidation of these operations between the two countries strengthens the diversification of airport activities and triggers new business opportunities originating from the Canadian market, where Air Canada has been a key partner.

Canada is a promising market for high-value tourism in Portugal. In 2023, Canada ranked as the 10th largest external market for Portugal based on the overnight stays indicator (with a 2.7% share) and reached 9th place in terms of the number of guests (3.3% share). That year, overnight stays by Canadian tourists in Portugal increased by 56.9%, and the number of guests grew by 54.5% compared to the previous year, totaling 593.8 thousand guests, which generated 1,472.0 thousand overnight stays.
